How to Find Us

The Institute is situated in the historic village of Roslin, 7miles/11km south of the centre of the City of Edinburgh. The village is located on the B7006, off the A701 trunk road.

At the heart of a growing cluster of bioscience organisations, the Institute has good transport links with Edinburgh, other parts of Scotland, and international destinations.

Road
From the North, West, and East, join the Edinburgh City bypass (A720). Take the bypass to Straiton Interchange and follow the A701 (sign-posted for Penicuik and Peebles) past IKEA, to Bilston. At the Bilston mini-roundabout, turn left onto the B7006 to Roslin. From the South, take the A701 to Bilston and turn right onto the B7006 to Roslin. The Institute entrance is approximately 0.6miles / 1km from Bilston. The journey time from the centre of Edinburgh is 20-30mins. The taxi fare for this journey is approximately £15.

Bus

Rail
The nearest mainline station to Roslin is Edinburgh Waverley, which has regular services to all parts of the United Kingdom. Timetable information is available from Networkrail.

Air
Edinburgh Airport is approximately 8miles (13km) west of the City Centre and approximately 19miles (31km) north-west of Roslin. Airport Information can be contacted on 0131 333 1000. There is an airport taxi rank at the Terminal and a regular Airport Bus service to the City Centre (Waverley Bridge). The taxi fare for this journey is approximately £27. Car hire is also available at the airport. The journey time to the City Centre is about 30mins, and to Roslin is 20mins.
