Macrophages.com is being developed as a community web site for researchers
with an interest in macrophage biology. Many of the existing resources on
the site are derived from the group of Professor David Hume, formerly at the
University of Queensland and now Director of the Roslin Institute. The site
is being developed further in cooperation with Dr Tom Freeman and other
researchers at the University of Edinburgh.
The aims of this web site are:
- To provide a resource for distribution of information about macrophage and
osteoclast biology, especially transcriptomics and comparative biology of
humans, livestock, companion and experimental animals.
- To provide information in a form that is user-friendly for biologists.
- To bring together quality reviews on topics of interest to macrophage
biologist on a single site, with the possibility of on-line updating and
correspondence.
- To provide a conduit for the sharing of reagents and resources relevant to
macrophage biology.
- To promote research collaborations and commercial interactions that can
translate knowledge about macrophage biology into therapies that benefit
animal and human health.
Contributions of material and/or links from resources developed by other
macrophage biologists are welcome.
